Archive for April, 2010

This past Saturday, Jason and I took advantage of it being our last “free” weekend until August. Between now and then, we are packed with weddings, family sessions and hopefully a much needed vacation! (I do still have a couple of Saturday slots open but they will book soon so call me if you’re interested :))

I mentioned earlier that I am currently working on a project that involves me photographing various areas around town. Well this project brought us to spend some time around South Main this weekend. We started at the Memphis Farmers Market. It’s a great place to get vegetables, fruits, handmade soaps, fresh flowers, pottery, coffee…. you name it! This Saturday was the opening day for the year. Unfortunately we arrived as they were closing down, but I still managed to get 10 French tulips for only $13. They were gorgeous! I always love getting fresh flowers there :)

After that we headed to the Beignet Cafe for lunch. They have great beignets which we have had before. They also have the best macaroni and cheese balls. If I were stranded on an island with my choice of food, it would be macaroni and cheese. Hands down. No questions asked.

After that we walked around shooting some images and then took a break at Bluff City Coffee. Apparently it was the the weekend of the Southern Hotwing Festival so Main St was the happenin’ place to be.

Here are some of the images we captured while we were out.

The Lorraine Motel.

I have a thing for graffiti walls. I think they appeal to the artistic side of me.

And this image appealed to the OCD side of me :)

The South Main area has some great places to shoot. If you’re looking for a more urban style to your photo session, consider coming to this area. So many colors, textures and fun stuff!

Today I headed out to scope an area that I’d seen other photographers use but I personally had never been there before. And wow! It was GORGEOUS! Everything was in bloom and it smelled wonderful there! The location is actually a private residence of a couple who has opened up their gardens to the public.  Apparently, the place is cared for by Master Gardeners. There are several acres of azaleas, daffodils, and other native plants. There is also an old red caboose, as well as other historical items relevant to the local cultural history of Germantown.

I’m so glad I made it there before the blooms were gone!

Check it out! If you have time, take a visit soon. It’s a great little escape :)

I loved the colors that were everywhere!

1. Develop professional stationary and packaging.

This may not be the most exciting post… but since new packaging is on my 36 in 365 I wanted to be able to publicly mark it off my list!

I like simple, clean lines. Nothing too busy or distracting. And I like blues and greens. So I was super excited when I found these boxes in the 2 colors that perfectly compliment my logo! Below is a pic of the blue but the green is close to the same shade as the green in my logo. The boxes have a nice sheen & embossed texture on them that gives them a hint of elegance. And I have coordinating ribbons and raffia to use with them.

Check it out!

The stationary design, on the other hand, is still on the drafting table. I’ll post pics of it when it’s finished.
