Four years ago today I married my best friend. We had a small outside ceremony on the beautiful grounds of a local bed and breakfast. It was a gorgeous day! (a little on the hot side but hey, it was Memphis in May!) Afterwards, we spent a week in Maui but never once spent any time on the beach. Sounds crazy I know! But that’s the kind of couple we are. Instead, we spent our time hiking sea cliffs, swimming in waterfalls, and even snorkeling with sea turtles. It was great!

Four years later, we are still that crazy couple who doesn’t know how to relax on vacation. Maybe one day we will learn how … but probably not ;)

Jason, thank you for being the best husband ever! You are most definitely the better half!

(P.S. – I’ll try to cook less dinners in the crockpot this year ;))

This cute couple was such a blast to photograph! Can I just point out how perfect their choice of clothes were? Such a fun style for their urban session!

We met in the South Main district underneath the Arcade Restaurant. I had warned them to wear comfy shoes cuz there would be some walking involved while shooting at this location. So they both came ready in their boots. I loved it!!! I think one of the first things I said was something dorky like ” you guys look so cute!” I just can’t hold the excitement in though when couples bring such style to a session :)

Amy & Joe were so much fun! Amy was completely silly while Joe tried not to “give any evidence” that he has a silly side too. The balance between them made for some fun pics!

After shooting this session in my YellowBox flip flops, I’m thinking I may need a cute pair of cowboy boots now… Sandals and train tracks just don’t meld well.

Congrats you guys!! Have fun at your destination wedding!

This past weekend, Jason and I drove up to the Nashvegas area for a photo session with some old (not older :)) friends who had recently moved there for a new job. As has been the case for the last several weekends, it was beautiful all week long, and then the rain rolled in just in time for the weekend. But I was determined to make this session happen even if it was raining. We had driven over 300 miles for this one :)

Luckily, by the time we got to the park, it had stopped raining. It was really foggy in some areas which was kinda cool, but it pretty much burned off by the time we started shooting. I loooved the park where we shot! (Percy Warner Park) There were these great stone steps that reminded me of a mini Machu Picchu. And the huge open fields were very green from all the rain. It was gorgeous! We were originally going to shoot at the stone gate entrance, but we actually never made it down there. There were tons of people there –get this– EXERCISING! Tons of runners!! And they were running those stone steps — on purpose!! Definitely not something you would see in Memphis… especially on a gray, damp and foggy morning. The sun did show its face for a few minutes which was great even if it was for just a minute…

I must add that I may be a little biased about the cuteness factor of these kids. They are my godchildren and are totally adorable! :)
